I’m getting really proactive this week and I’m blogging some content to hopefully help other coaches and PTs at this tough time, here with a few tips on how they can prepare business for what could be yet another unprecedented and challenging period of time.
These are some of my strategies to get ahead of the game
Re-engage with clients
The reality for many fitness professionals is we have probably lost hundreds of thousands of pounds since we started this. It is just not sustainable for any business that depends in the long term on current clients and sales. This is why you should consider re-engaging with your existing customers instead of just calling or messaging them to ask if they are coming back, instead provide real value. You can do that by either offering them some useful advice or free workout videos maybe, maybe an email every week with fitness and health tips, or anything else. I have some great software to deliver all of this – DM me if interested and I’ll pass on the link.
The same goes for prospects and leads you get on the gym floor. We’ve all been guilty of doing a free session. Following up with calls but then never contacting them again after the 3rd try. Just because a lead hasn’t signed up to a package today doesn’t mean that they’ll never book. there will always be a new year resolution, some Christmas excess to get over or getting ready for summer holidays!
Get organised and Get Focussed
Organising is vital if you’re going to succeed in business. When you’re organised you’re able to make better decisions, be more productive, and turn your ideas into realities. Organising allows you to have the tools you need at hand to help you make your goals come to life. Start your day with 3 big challenges to complete. These 3 tasks should be the most important tasks that will grow your PT business. This could be anything from sending out a group email or contacting one new prospect or filling out your tax returns so you don’t get a fine!
Whether you are an entrepreneur or working for a company, success comes from your ability to focus on what is important. Focusing allows you to achieve more with limited resources and time. Getting yourself focussed can be challenging when there are many distractions in the way but it does not have to be this way.
Here’s how you can get yourself focused today:
Don’t multitask. How many times have you tried to do several things at once and ended up getting distracted and not really getting anywhere despite your best intentions.
Build a system or workflow that works for you. If you have set up a system or a workflow for your business, you will be more likely to follow through with your tasks and before you know it they will become second nature to you.
Get rid of distractions, the less you have the better. How many times do we get side tracked with our phones when we should be doing other things? If mindlessly scrolling is a constant then try to put that phone away from you or even in another room until you finish your task. Break down big tasks into small chunks. We can often feel overwhelmed when we have to do something big that often leads to delaying the task. Instead write down your big goal and break it up into smaller tasks. By
completing a small task bit by bit before you know it you’ve achieved your bigger goal.
Use software and management tech to support this – I automate a lot of this through a platform that saves me hours each week. – embrace some change and technology!
Spend your time wisely
You have a lot on your plate. But, since we all get the same 24 hours, why is it that some people have such a huge impact on their time with their work? The answer lies in a person’s ability to manage their time well.
To get the most out of the time you have, schedule the things that are important to you and make sure you’re executing on those in the most productive way possible. It’s important to schedule in the things that you want to do to keep you motivated and to help keep you on track.
We’ve mentioned it before about listing your tasks/goals however how many of us also list a rough estimate of the amount of time it might take? This will allow you to see how you can schedule this in to your day. By doing this you may find that you need an hour whereas you have a client in about 30 minutes. See how effective this can be? Again get a decent scheduler – DM me here to for any help/advice…
Take some time to reflect on what you’ve done
One of the most powerful things you can do to grow your business is to make time for reflection. If you’re not focusing on what you’re doing, you’ll never know what’s really working and what isn’t. Asking and answering yourself some fundamental questions will help you make better decisions moving forwards. Some examples I’ve asked myself are things like;
How can I adapt my business moving forwards?
I asked myself this question and was fortunate enough to move much of my business online before the pandemic. This allowed me to adapt my business during lockdown which minimised the impact. It has allowed me to now think that I will be developing this further and look at using this for multiple income streams. Remember – What gets measured gets managed, collect and manage your data to support this process.
Give yourself a break
What do you mean we’ve had a year of breaks? A year of stress is not a year of breaks. We often need to detach ourselves to see the bigger picture. Whether you’ve been proactive over the last year or been completely stressed, be kind to yourself.
Taking time to rest and relax is important for your mental health. When you’re in a stressed out state, you’re not at your best. You can’t give your best to your clients, or to your business. You need to take time to relax and rejuvenate.
I’ve been implementing a lot through COVID-19 and have some really simple systems in place that support and make life so much easier. I know people are struggling and I’m happy to pass on my experience and tips here to help those he may be grateful at this tough time.
Reach out if you want some more advice around what and how I do things.
